What is an AC Shaded-pole Motor?

The Shaded-pole motor represents the foundational type of AC single-phase induction motor. Single-phase AC motors are categorized into three primary types: single-phase induction motors, commutator-type single-phase motors, and single-phase synchronous motors. Within single-phase induction motors, four subcategories exist: split-phase motors, shaded pole induction motors, reluctance start induction motors, and repulsion start induction motors.
